Artist to Watch: CiCi Columbiana
Sierra Lewter, AKA CiCi Columbiana, is a 17-year old rapper from Northeast DC who just dropped her first single Good $ Hott and is making waves in her community. CiCi Columbiana has been going to the recording studio with her God father since she was six and started rapping when she was only ten years old. "I have been around music all my life. I asked my God father if I could rap and he said only if you are willing to train like an athlete. He told me he was gonnna make me the Lebron James of Rap. Straight from high school to the pros, so I had to work on my writing everyday. He would pay me a dollar for every hot metaphor I wrote. I have been writing since I was six and now I feel like I am ready to go up against the best," CiCi said. Her name comes from the movie Colombiana starring Zoe Saldana and from the name of her city.
Her first drop, Good $ Hott, was written by her and produced by Trap Benders. Cici says she gets inspiration from "everyday life experiences and people who are apart of my life." When she dropped her single, she was "nervous, but ready to let people hear me." So far, "the reactions [to the video] have been very good. I'm getting a lot of positive feedback and my fan base has been growing as a result of the song," CiCi said.
As for the future, CiCi Columbiana is working on an EP called "COLUMBIANA SEASON vol1” that will be dropping in late July. "I would love to collaborate with some of the great rappers out there... Nicki, Drake, Jay Z, Kendrick, Shy Glizzy and Wale. I want to go as far as I can go. When people talk about great rappers who changed the game, I want my name to be mentioned in that group."
